Week 1

Welcome back!

The children have settled in well after a two week break; it was nice to hear what some of them have been up to during the Easter holidays. Well done to the children who chose to do some of the optional homework, which they shared with the class.

This week the children have been looking at negative numbers in maths and were introduced to our literacy topic of persuasive writing through their powers of persuasion as an estate agent.

In history, the class were introduced to our topic of Britain through the decades from 1948 - learning about significant events through a timeline.

In games this half term the children will be taught rounders with our visiting coach - we were fortunate with a beautiful sunny day for our first lesson this week!

Our week ended with Brain Awareness day - with the focus of 'memory'. In the first lesson we reminded ourselves about what we knew about the brain, our memory and things we can do to help us remember new things. The children created a story incorporating some items that they had been asked to remember , to help them learn them. Some of us found this technique easier than others!

Brain Awareness - working on our short term memory: learning and reciting a poem
