At HWCE, our intent for Art and Design is to nurture creativity, imagination, and self-expression in every child. We aim to deliver a high-quality, engaging curriculum that inspires and challenges pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to explore, experiment, and create their own works of art, craft, and design. Rooted in the National Curriculum, our art provision develops children’s understanding of visual language—line, shape, form, colour, texture, and pattern—and deepens their appreciation of a diverse range of artists and artistic traditions. Through art, we encourage children to reflect, communicate ideas, and take creative risks, fostering confidence and resilience in their learning.
