Religious Education at High Wycombe Church of England Combined School

At High Wycombe C of E, Religious Education is a core part of our curriculum. It supports children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and equips them to flourish in today’s diverse world. Through RE, pupils learn that Christianity is a living and diverse faith, while also exploring a range of religious and non-religious worldviews with curiosity, respect and compassion.

We encourage our pupils to be strong and courageous in asking big questions about life, meaning and purpose, while listening thoughtfully to the views of others.

Our RE curriculum is rich, broad and inclusive, designed to nurture:

    • Secure knowledge and understanding of Christianity, its beliefs, practices and influence in the world.

    • Respect and understanding of religious and non-religious worldviews, recognising both diversity and shared values.

    • Skills of enquiry, reflection, critical thinking and dialogue.

    • Confidence to express beliefs and values clearly and respectfully.

    • A sense of identity and belonging, knowing that each child is loved by God and has a unique role in His world.

We provide a safe and supportive environment where all children can flourish as thoughtful, reflective and compassionate individuals. Through RE, our vision is to equip pupils with the wisdom, knowledge and courage to live well with others, contribute positively to society, and grow in faith, hope and love.
