PE and Sports Premium Funding at High Wycombe C of E School

At High Wycombe C of E, we recognise the vital role that Physical Education (PE) plays in the health, well-being, and overall development of our children. We believe that a high-quality, varied PE curriculum – along with rich extra-curricular opportunities – has a positive impact on pupils’ concentration, attitude, and academic achievement.

What is the PE and Sports Premium?

The PE and Sports Premium is government funding provided to all state primary schools. Its purpose is to help schools develop sustainable and high-quality PE and sports provision, encouraging all pupils to lead healthy and active lifestyles.

    How the Funding is Allocated

Funding is based on the number of pupils in Years 1 to 6, recorded in the January school census:

    • Schools with 17 or more pupils receive £16,000 plus £10 per pupil

    • Schools with 16 or fewer pupils receive £1,000 per pupil

How We Use Our Sports Premium

At High Wycombe C of E, this funding enables us to enhance our PE and sport provision in a number of ways, including:

    • Employing specialist sports coaches and PE professionals

    • Increasing our participation in inter-school competitions

    • Offering staff training to improve the quality of PE teaching

    • Running events like Healthy Heroes Week to promote fitness and well-being

    • Providing professional development opportunities for staff in PE and sport

    • Purchasing high-quality teaching resources and equipment

    • Funding after-school sports clubs and residential trips
