  • Communication Week 2026

Communication Week is led by Buckinghamshire’s Early Years Service. The focus of the week is encouraging children to chat, play and read as much as possible, helping to build their confidence, vocabulary and love of books.

In school, children will take part in a range of fun language-based activities including storytelling, singing rhymes, memory games and turn-taking games. You can support at home by sharing a bedtime story (remember – a book beats a screen!), chatting on the walk to school, playing “I Spy,” or visiting your local library. Simple everyday conversations make a big difference.

Below are links to rhymes and a Parent Card (created by the Buck’s Early Years Team) full of ideas to support communication and language at home.
