  • RE Curriculum Offer - Intent

Religious Education has a unique and central place in the curriculum at High Wycombe Church of England School. Our aim is for all children to become religiously literate: able to hold balanced, respectful and well-informed conversations about religion and belief.

Through our Religious Education curriculum we aim to:

    • Engage pupils in exploring and enquiring into big questions about religion, belief, values and meaning, in ways that promote their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.

    • Provide pupils with secure knowledge and understanding of Christianity as a living and diverse faith, as well as of other principal religious and non-religious worldviews represented in Great Britain.

    • Develop children’s understanding of how beliefs and values shape the way people live, influencing behaviour, practices and outlook.

    • Enable pupils to reflect on and apply the insights they gain from studying religions and worldviews to their own search for identity, purpose and meaning.

    • Support pupils in becoming aware of their own developing beliefs and values, encouraging thoughtful reflection and resilience in their personal journey.

    • Foster positive attitudes of respect, dialogue and empathy towards those with different beliefs and worldviews, preparing pupils to live well together in a diverse society.
