Week 6

This week in Literacy, we continued with our book 'The Tiger Who Came to Tea'. The children sequenced and captioned the story this week, to help them understand that narrative stories have a beginning, middle and end. Next week, they will be writing their own stories!

In story time, we have been reading books written by black authors, linking to Black History Month. The children have also been planning their speeches about their heritage and culture, using their homework, ready to present next week.

In Maths, we have started a new topic- Addition and Subtraction. The main focus of this week was using part whole models to divide numbers into groups. We did this through lots of practical maths lessons. Next week we will start writing addition number sentences, and looking at number bonds.

This week, saw the last week of football, before the House competition next week. The children have really enjoyed this unit and made great progression individually and in their team work skills. In Geography, we focused on Brazil in South America. The children wrote acrostic poems about Brazil, using their learning about the Amazon rainforest and Mardi Gras Carnival. In Computing, the children have continued creating maps and trails for the Bee Bot to navigate.
