Week 1
A super busy week where the children enjoyed Godly Play and International day. Mrs Hawkins launched the 40 Acts challenge for Lent and our overview is in the Lent section of the website.
Maths was all about money and making amounts using different coins. They started a new topic in Literacy, explanations, and began by explaining how a Shirt Machine would work. They imagined all sorts of shirts which the machine could make - flying shirts, musical shirts, time-travel shirts - the list was endless!
In computing the children worked together to come up with questions for research about an animal.
They were excellent in Godly Play -asking lots of thoughtful questions about the Last Supper and contributing lovely ideas of their own. International Day was a success and the children worked with Year 1 in their house teams. They visited Eire and Nigeria in year 1 and the countries in year 2 were Pakistan and France.
They tasted bread, pain au chocolat and (some) tasted French cheese! The classroom was a bit smelly but it was worth it! They also had the chance to look at spices from Pakistan and design a mehndi pattern.
