Week 3

Another busy week in Year Two.

In Literacy we have started looking at Julia Donaldson’s bestseller ‘The Gruffalo’. Collaborative learning was the key to acting out scenes and creating freeze frames. We looked into settings and character description for ‘The Gruffalo’s Child’.

Maths this week has been all about subtraction. We have been looking at how to use pictures and a blank number line to help with this by jumping back in steps. We also explored word problems that involved subtracting a one digit from a two digit number.

In PE we have started our new unit on netball and were practising chest passes to a partner and as a relay. Please remember we are outside so children must have outdoor PE kits on Mondays; It was freezing!

D and T - We completed our moving vehicles with a wonderful afternoon of creativity - often deviating from the colours on our plans but still moving vehicles nonetheless and lots of good discussion about purpose followed. Thank you to Mrs W for your help!

The week finished with great excitement as we finally got to use our extraordinary marble run that Mrs K so faithfully helped us build across several weeks last term. Thank you also for your support.  I’m sure this will prove to be a much enjoyed golden time activity throughout Year Two.
