Week 3

We have continued our sport of cricket this term.  The children continued to practise thinking about the different things that could be going on around them and where they need to remain focused.  We practised some more of our ball skills and the children began to practise throwing the ball for it to be hit with a bat.

Literacy

We have really enjoyed our new story book of At the Beach, Postcards from Crabby Spit.  The children read the beginning of the story and then we predicted different endings to the story based on what we have already learnt.  The children also took a double page from the book and began to label it with descriptive features.

Our maths lessons have been great this week.  We revisited subtraction and explored different vocabulary that could be used in some problem solving questions.  The children have practised subtracting a 1 digit number from a 2 digit number, a 2 digit number from another 2 digit number with some challenges of exchanging.  We don't practise the column methods in KS1 so we have used multiple methods such as drawing tens and ones and also using a number line.
