Reading Books

I CAN

To be read independently by the children. Encourage them to sound out and blend the words as they read. Re-reads several times to increase fluency and ask questions after to check comprehension. These will be changed on Mondays (reading wallets will be kept in school).

WE CAN

These books are to be read to your child. These are just beyond their phonic knowledge, so may have some words children can help read. This is to help model reading and fluency to children. These will be changed on Mondays (reading wallets will be kept in school).

LIBRARY

Children are able to choose any book from our Infant Library, based on their interests, and are used to encourage a love of reading. You can read the book to your child or they may like to explore the book independently. These are changed on Tuesdays.

Phonics

Each week, children will be sent home with a phonics sheet to complete. These are based on the sounds we have learnt that week, and also include a mark making/ letter formation task. This will be sent home on Fridays and due back the following Wednesday.

Maths

Reception will be using the learning platform Mathseeds for maths homework. The website is designed to make maths learning fun with interactive games and tasks. Login details will be put into Reading Records later in the term.

Optional Homework

At the beginning of each half term, a newsletter will be sent out listing different activities the children could do out of school to help further their learning.
