This week was our final week looking at Greek myths in Literacy. We started the week by looking at Pandora's box, discussing the story and exploring ideas through hot seating. After that, we used all our past weeks learning to plan our own Greek myth using the different features and ideas we have come across in this unit. The children wrote excellent myths with lots of exciting events.
In Maths we spent the week on position and direction using co-ordinates. The children built on their knowledge and ability to reflect and translate shapes on a grid. They worked really hard on their problem solving skills within this topic.
In other areas; Christmas came to year 5 - the classroom has been decorated with lots of stars and angels made by the children, it has been a busy week rehearsing and recording all the parts for the Christmas performance, we finished our Christmas cards and star dedications for The Royal Star and Garter home, in geography we researched Greek food and then wrote dinner menus using our findings, in Science we investigated water resistance with the help of some plasticine and bubble bath, we wrote diary entries from the point of view of the shepherds visiting Jesus and wrote design specifications for Christmas biscuits in DT.
