Year 1 took advantage of the strike day and we moved around the school to practise moving to the left and to the right. We noticed that depending on the way you face, left and right can be in different directions.
Year 1 demonstrated true courage and motivation for their assembly and we are incredibly proud of them. The children worked exceptionally hard as a team each one of them excelled in every way.
Thank you to all parents for your support, we truly appreciate it.
Well done Year 1!
We were using the words long, longer, longest, short, shorter, shortest and the same as. The children were drawing lines on the playground with chalk whilst hearing these maths phrases. We discussed in the length about measuring the lines from the same point to make sure we are measuring them fairly.
The children have been sampling different vegetables and dips in preparation for their DT projects.
Counting in 5s has been great fun, especially when it has been incorporated into play based activities. The children were counting in 5s in ascending and descending order and thinking about what the rules are if a number is a multiple of 5.
We have really enjoyed getting outside and doing some active learning. At the beginning of the week we’re outside and counting in 2s. Some of the number sequences had some missing numbers and lots of different challenges where the number sequences were in ascending and descending order.
Year 1 were very fortunate to share with the rest of the school what we have been learning about. From traditional tales, planning to write our version of the three little pigs and finally describing the properties of different materials.
We looked at all the different SMARTs and decided we were going to challenge ourselves on being practical!
We made some special Christmas cards for the children’s ward at the hospital. We thought this would be a good opportunity to show a loving attitude to people in the community who might need some extra thoughts at this time.
We loved having Zoolab to explore different kinds of animals and how they are classified into reptiles, insects, fishes. amphibians, reptiles and mammals. The children and the leader talked about the names of the different kinds of animals, their habitats and some features of the animals.
In PE we have practised balancing with different parts of our body.
In PSHE we have been learning more about emotions and feelings. We have looked into what different feelings we might have, what they might look like and how we could help others in some tricky situations.
We have been practising using forwards, backwards, left and right instructions to make some algorithms.
We have loved listening to Bob Marley recently. The children have practised using some instruments so they could play on beats 2 and 4 whilst listening to some reggae music.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
