English writing

To begin English this term we read the story ‘We’re Going on a Lion Hunt’.  We discussed how the story was different and similar to ‘We’re Going in a Bear hunt’ and then looked at how we could change the story. The children changed the animal to one of their own choice and then the sequence of where their story would take them.  We thought it was important to keep the catchy parts of the story as these were a key feature.

World Book Week

We have had some fantastic pieces of homework brought in this week to celebrate WorldBook Week.  Inspired by books, some of the children brought in book boxes that reflect a story in an imaginative and creative display.

International Women’s Day

We were talking about Emma Watson and the work she has done with the UN and the the importance of equality between men and women.  The children wrote spells to embrace their inner Hermoine Granger about what we can do to help people be treated equally.

Nursery rhyme week

We have really enjoyed singing some nursery rhymes during nursery rhyme week. Here we are singing 1, 2, 3,  4, 5, once I caught a fish alive.

Science

In our topic about animals, we began to look at how different amphibians and reptiles move.  We had some fantastic piece of work produced such as this frog made from play dough.

The children have all worked incredibly hard in maths this term.  We have been exploring how to partition a number in different ways and write their ideas in a number sentence.

Black History Month

As it has been Black History Month, we have been listening to some of Bob Marley’s music.  The children have practised playing some instruments, counting the beat and writing some interesting sentences about his life.
