First few days

Myself and Mr Ball have really enjoyed welcoming back Hawks class, who have had a very busy first few days back at school! We were all very excited to see our friends again and to start our learning. We have done very well settling back in to school life as well as learning new routines.

We thought about what it means to be a good learner, came up with our 'Mindset Manifesto' and agreed upon our class rules. We shared ideas about how we can help ourselves to learn and created a Learning Pit poster to show the learning journey.

Friday was Brain Awareness day where we did a quiz to see if the left or right side of our brain was more dominant. Once we had found this out, we then created a 'My Brain' poster to share this discovery and demonstrate how we could give our less dominant side a workout. We also had great fun creating a paper puzzle trick that seems to defy what we know is logical!
The class brainstormed about what they thought 'thinking' was - Sienna came up with a fantastic description that our brain is like a computer with lots of different tabs open because we are always taking in lots of different information!

Next week in Maths we will be learning about place value and in Literacy we will be starting our first book of the term: The Firework-Maker's Daughter', which will help us with our descriptive writing.

See you next week!
