Summer Term - PGL Residential - Outdoor Adventure Activities

We arrived safe and sound after a noisy and excitable coach journey. We stopped for lunch about half way and enjoyed a picnic in the sunshine. Just after 4pm we made our way to our rooms and unpacked before finding our meeting point for activities. We had the early dinner slot tonight so headed into the dining hall at 5:20 and all the children filled up on a two course meal - they ate really well. Miss Hawes and Miss Jones took some of the children to watch England v Tunisia - they enjoyed celebrating the win! Mrs Hawkins and Miss Burgess took the rest of the children to play 'Passport to the world'. They all took part, worked well as a team and ran off a lot of energy. A really fun filled first day and all the children are happy and having a great time.

*the internet connection is very weak and struggling to upload photos so please bare with us

We had the early breakfast slot this morning so we got the children up at 6:50 ready for breakfast at 7:15. All the children had a cooked breakfast and many even managed to have cereal, toast and fruit too.

The day started off chilly but ended up being lovely and sunny which we all enjoyed. Our day was very busy with four activities per group, games at 'Little Wembly' plus this evenings entertainment as well as many games in between. All the children were fantastic on Jacob's Ladder and tried hard to overcome fears, many got to the top as well. The beach walk was a whole school activity - it was great to spend time together as a class and complete some games on the beach in the sun.

Our 'Groupie' Tessa is great and leading the children in plenty of singing and team games throughout the day to keep them occupied between activities.

Today's activities were:

Miss Jones Group - Problem Solving, Jacob's Ladder, Beach Walk, Buggy Build

Miss Hawes Group - Jacob's Ladder, Aeroball, Beach Walk, Buggy Build

Mrs Hawkins & Miss Burgess Group - Buggy Build, Jacob's Ladder, Beach Walk, Aeroball

They finished the day with 'splash'! A challenge to drop a water balloon off the abseiling tower without it bursting - two groups managed to succeed!

A fantastic first full day has been had by everyone and we are sure they will all sleep very well tonight! :-)

After a busy day yesterday, nearly all the children had to be woken this morning and the 6:50 wake up time wasn't so popular! Despite being tired, they all managed to eat very well and then play some games with Tessa before the day's activities started.

Today's activities were:

Miss Jones Group - Animation, Archery, Abseiling, Zip Wire

Miss Hawes Group - Archery, Animation, Zip Wire, Abseiling

Mrs Hawkins & Miss Burgess Group - Archery, Zip Wire, Animation, Abseiling

All of the children challenged themselves on the height based activities today (Zip Wire and Abseiling) and are very proud of themselves for their achievements - as are the staff!  They are supporting each other to face their fears and achieve more than they thought they could on their own.

After a big lunch,we headed to 'Little Wembley' to play some games before the afternoon activities began.

Today has ended with 'Wacky Races' led by Tessa where the children are competing in four teams in some very 'wacky' races!

Another fantastic day which the children have made the most of and I have no doubt they will again sleep well tonight ready for another action packed day tomorrow.

Another early start for us all and again the children were hard to wake after such exciting, action packed days!

Today's activities were:

Miss Jones Group - Trapeze, Aeroball, Tunnel Trail, Climbing

Miss Hawes Group - Trapeze, Tunnel Trail, Climbing, Problem Solving

Mrs Hawkins & Miss Burgess Group - Tunnel Trail, Trapeze, Climbing, Problem Solving

A much hotter day today but the children coped really well and threw themselves into their activities well. Many children again exceeded their own expectations of themselves on the height based activities - we are so proud of them all for their achievements.

Our evening entertainment today was 'capture the flag' a a large team game where the aim is to capture the other team's flag and get it back to your 'home'.

Everyone has had a great week and have mixed feelings about returning home tomorrow - excitement to see loved ones and sad it'll be over. They are all looking forward to their last days activities and the food!

See you all tomorrow!

*unfortunately the iPad for Miss Jones' Group corrupted and lost the photos of most of the activities today, group games, dinner time and the evening entertainment - apologies there are no photos for their achievements in climbing (all made it to the top twice!), tunnel trails and aeroball.

We had a fantastic last day at PGL and all the children made the most of their last morning here.

Today's activities were:

Miss Jones - Quad Biking, Giant Swing

Miss Hawes - Quad Biking, Giant Swing

Mrs Hawkins& Miss Burgess - Giant Swing, Quad Bikinh

The children challenged themselves for the final time with the giant swing, many overcoming their fear of heights yet again! They all enjoyed quad biking with many saying it was their favourite activity.

After a much quieter journey home (many children having a sleep), they were excited to see their parents and tell them what they had achieved!

A fantastic week away where year 6 made us very proud. Well Done!
