W/C - 6th Sept

Our first full week back at school!

In Literacy we used the book 'Joan Procter Dragon Doctor' to develop our reading skills making inference statements and summarising the story to introduce ourselves to this text. This book is a biographical story and is supporting us this term in our writing on non-fiction texts.

In Maths we have started the term with learning about place value, working with numbers with up to 4 digits; enjoying an outdoor learning activity at the beginning of the week.

In Science we have begun the topic 'Living Things and their Habitats'. We went around the school ground to identify living leaves. We were then able to identify key characteristics of these leaves including according to how they grow on branches.

In PSHE we explored different feelings using expression and body language to identify how people are feeling, so we can understand and help others.

On Friday we had our second afternoon for Brain Awareness! We looked at what different types of thinking we all do and how we use our brain in many different ways when we are learning - by asking questions, using logic and being creative! We even tried our hand at creating a Paper Puzzle - the puzzle that seems to defy logic... take a look at the pictures and video below - can you figure out how we did it?!

This paper puzzle seems to defy logic... can you work out how we made it happen?!
