Welcome back!
This week the children have been exploring 3-D shapes and looking at how they can make 2-D shape prints with them. In literacy they wrote poems using the story about the Rainbow Fish as inspiration. They acted out the story and then explored all the lovely language in it. They also considered the theme of how being selfish can make you unhappy.
In science they collected leaves for the seasons display in class. Over the year the tree will change to reflect the changing seasons.
International Day was great fun, making Vietnamese lanterns, Canadian totem poles and animal masks. The children were very supportive of each other, working in teams to match pictures of Polish landmarks. In the afternoon they worked with year 2 to make leaf collages and poems to send to Zenith school in The Gambia. Have a look at the photos on the International HWCE page (under key information- curriculum)
As part of Black History Month the children learnt about famous people who fought for equality in the 1950's and 1960's and all sang "This little light of mine", one of the songs sung on the Freedom marches.j
