First full week, completed! It’s been lovely getting to know your children this week. I have been super impressed with the way they have settled into year one and the new routines. I expect they will be tired and in need of some rest this weekend. Each week, I will endeavour to give a brief overview of some things that they have been up to, to support your discussion around school life and things that you might like to follow up on at home.
Literacy - 'Here We Are' by Oliver Jeffers.
Last week we reflected on being right here - back at school and discussed our feelings around this. This week we have been locating ourselves on our planet via Google Earth, creating a page each for our 'Guide to Earth' for the aliens that appeared in our classroom - telling them about things of interest to us. We also went to Tom Burts Hill to enjoy the outdoors and wrote a whole class poem about what we enjoy 'Out and About'.
Maths - Place Value
We have been recapping on recognising, writing and ordering numbers as well as counting and representing them with objects and pictures.
PE
All children rose to the challenge of changing out of and into our new year one uniform! Please continue to practice buttons and ties at home to speed up changing times.
We played some games travelling in different ways, at different speeds and in different directions. We will be outside for our PE lessons as much as possible so as the weather gets colder, please ensure your child has a tracksuit.
Topic - 'My World and Me'
We met Buddy the Bee who will go on an adventure to a country in a different continent each week. First stop this week - France, Europe! We made flags, drew pictures and wrote captions and sentences about what you might see, eat and say in France! Au Revoir!
