Week 1

It has been great to welcome the children back all refreshed from their half term break. It was lovely to read all their home work about someone who inspired them, as part of our black history month. Some of their work has gone on our whole school display in the corridor.

In maths this week, the class have been developing their knowledge of time: days and weeks in a year, as well as looking at analogue time. Now, some of the children need to practice analogue time on a daily basis. In literacy, the class have been looking at direct speech, punctuating with inverted commas. The children finished the week writing a dialogue between two characters playing a prank, just like Mr and Mrs Twit!
Every half term, each class takes part in an alternative PE lesson. This half term is Quidditch and Year 3 enjoyed playing this exciting game this week.

The week ended with our International day on Friday; learning particularly about South Africa and Samoa in the morning. In the afternoon, we learnt a bit more about the wonders of the African continent, looking at Tanzania and Nigeria. Israel and Gervas were able to share some of their knowledge of these countries, which we made it more interesting for the class. We then looked at Nigerian clothing and particularly the beautiful, vibrant patterns on them.

Have a wonderful weekend.
