Week 1

We have had an exciting week back after half term. In Literacy, we have started work on our new book 'Dogger' by Shirley Hughes. Our new topic will be focused on lost toy stories- which links to our learning in history. We have been thinking about how it would feel to be the lost toy and learning about unfamiliar words in the text. In Maths, we are continuing to look at addition.

In alternative PE, the children tried a game of Quidditch- without the broomsticks! They practiced some ball skills needed for the game and did really well.  In History, we have begun diving into the past to learn about toys. This week we investigated modern toys, thinking about what they are made from and how they are used.

On Thursday, we were lucky to have a visitor from Zoolab. The children were able to see and touch the different animals including: a giant African snail, a lizard, a snake, a tarantula and a scorpion. They had great fun and learnt some interesting new facts!

The end of the week was filled with lots of fun activities. The morning theme of International day was based on Sweden, where the children had the opportunity to sample different Swedish foods. They also painted water colour pictures of traditional Swedish Dala horses.
