Week 1

In Design & Technology, we are learning about bridges. We have begun experimenting with different shaped beams to see how much load they can bear. This will help us with our designs later on.

In 'Alternative PE, we combined with Year4 to do some orienteering. Groups had a 'map' of a funny face and had to retrieve the equipment to create it,. It taught us to be very supportive of each other and helped our map reading and communication skills.

In Games, we are developing our cricketing skills.

In Computing, we have begun training to be architects by using the program 'SketchUp' to design 3d images of buildings. At the moment, we are just starting to explore all the tools available in the program.

We finished the week (or should that be Finnished the week!) with International Day. Along with Year 6 - Owls, we explored Finland in the morning and created these really effective postcards of The Aurora Borealis/Northern Lights.

It was a case of "Gooood Afternooon Vietnam!" after lunch when we went from 2d art to 3d art, when we created these Vietnamese lanterns.
