Week 2

This week, the children have been developing their skills in describing using the stimulus of an animation called 'Zahra'. The African setting provoked lots, of discussion around setting descriptions and the hardworking main character allowed the children to explore adjectives to describe personality.

In Maths, we have been working on developing methods for subtraction and attempting to solve problems using the methods. We have explored partitioning a number being subtracted and jumping back to the nearest ten to calculate more efficiently than counting back in ones each time. The children have worked hard on these methods and we will revisit them next week when we will look at addition and subtraction.

In Geography we started our new unit by looking at aerial maps and have begun the challenge of attempting to draw a birds eye view of our classroom!

In Art we looked at the work of Rothko and created our own colour fields.  We started our unit 'We are Painters' in Computing by considering how different illustrators represent the same character and in PE we enjoyed our Real PE unit focusing on the physical cog and multiskills on games. PE will now be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays this term.
