Week 3

Maths this week has taken Year One on a journey with making arrays.  They have practised this vital skill in a variety of ways to help them really visualise what multiplication looks like.  We have been developing their understanding and ability to use vocabulary such as row, column, groups of and total.

In Literacy, we have been working on applying capital letters, full stops and question marks through responding to the text - Handa's Hen.  Some of Mondi's chicks made their way into our playground!  The children speculated where they might be hiding and wrote questions to ask Mr Bradley if he had seen them in different places. They wrote statements to report on where they were.

In PE, we continued developing cricket skills.  Our Geography this week included cross curricular write and the children worked hard to use posters they made to write facts about the different countries in the UK.
