Week 3

The first week back in school has flown by and it was so exciting to have returned to school to see all our friends!

On Monday we spent some time catching up, playing some games and welcoming two new members to Hawks class! We used our time together on Monday to start to settle in and have great discussions around supporting our own, and others mental health. For one of the activities we awarded ourselves a medal or a trophy for any achievement over lockdown (no matter how small) to celebrate how well we coped with such a big, and quite sudden, change in our routines!

In Literacy we have continued our work on our class text 'How to Train Your Dragon'; taking on the role of the main character, Hiccup, and writing from his point of view at the end of the week (poor Hiccup is having a challenging time so far!).

In Maths we worked on using column addition, subtraction and the inverse operations to work with bigger numbers up to 5 digits and solved problems using these methods.

This week we have also...

been learning about the plague in History (lots of us have been enjoying this!), played playground games, worked on our throwing and catching skills in Crazy Catch in PE, began our new DT topic where our skill focus is sewing to make money pouches and continued with our Science topic of Sound where we made string telephones and tested which string was the best at carrying sound vibrations!
