Week 3

Maths

In maths this week our focus has been addition.  We have practised counting 10 more and 10 less, fact families, number bonds and how to add a 2 digit number with a 1 digit number.  We have been representing values using dienes, however, we have also moved onto drawing these values so we can add another value to it.  To push ourselves even more, we have begun to look at making exchanges from our ones values to our tens.

Literacy

The children have produced some magnificent writing this week.  We have continued to look at newspaper reports and edited one to make improvements.  The children explored many of the key features of a newspaper report and then moved onto writing their own about Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs.

Year 2 are doing their Games session this term with Wycombe Wonderers. We were doing a lot of ball practise and how to move the ball in different ways and using different parts of our feet.

With our PE cog this term of physical we have continued the focus on throwing, receiving and ball skills.

Year 2 Blessing

Music

The children performed a fantastic musical piece this week all about the growing fire during the times of the great fire of London.  It was a magnificent performance and they put a lot of effort into thinking about their tempo, fluency and how it could reflect the theme.
