Week 3
This week the children started a new Literacy topic - discussion texts. The children worked in their groups to come up with questions to discuss. They explored the language and structure of the text before writing their own about zoos.
We also met a very special visitor who travelled in time to come and talk to us - Miss Florence Nightingale herself! The children re-enacted the Batle of Balaclava with the Nightingale Nurses tending to the wounded soldiers. They scrubbed floors, killed rats and generally cleaned up Scutari hospital.
I was really proud of their behaviour and the way they engaged with the role play. They answered all her questions and were really knowledgeable about the topic. It was a lovely afternoon.
