Week 4

In literacy we started our topic on stories with familiar settings. We used Matilda to look at the school setting. We looked at how we would describe her school and then described our own. Miss Honey's house was our writing focus and we wrote brilliant setting descriptions of her cottage.

In maths we are back to time. The class assembly really helped them to learn their roman numerals so they could tell the time on clocks with these numerals too. We drew big clocks on the playground to help us and tried to work out the duration of events.

In other news:

Tuesday was our school trip to the Chiltern Open Air Museum. We participated in 2 workshops and they were able to do lots of fun activities like digging for clues, dressing up as soldiers, mosaics and blending herbs. The children loved the hands on nature of the day and were even able to bring home oil lamps they had made from clay.

Friday was our class assembly. The children did really well and definitely pulled it out of the bag for the performance so a big well done to them and a big thank you to the parents for providing the costumes.
