Literacy
This week we have read the story of Jack and the Baked Beanstalk and discussed the different themes of the story. After looking at some of the popular themes in traditional stories we had a class debate to argue if they could still be applied to a spin-off version. Moving on from this, we have been retelling the story using talk for writing. The children have really enjoyed doing this and being able to focus on their grammatical skills through actions and speech. Here are some of the photos from this week.
We have been revising our nouns and verbs recently and our class has really enjoyed playing a game. Here is the link if you would like to practise at home. If you have the opportunity to continue discussing the differences between verbs, nouns and adjectives please do as it will be really beneficial for them throughout the year.
Maths
This week we have been focusing on the properties of 2D shapes. The children were fantastic at differentiating between edges and vertices. As we moved onto lines of symmetry this became more tricky so please continue to talk about this at home if you have the opportunity.

Literacy homework
Last week we set the children a creative writing task. This was set for two weeks so please support the children in any way you can to continue with this. Thanks, Miss Plume
