Week 4

PE & Games - We have been continuing to run our 'Weekly Mile' in order to maintain our fitness - especially after lockdown. We continued our Athletics lessons - practising techniques for the high jump - more next week. We also began to play an adapted version of 'Bench-ball' which we all enjoyed.

In Art, we continued our study of Henri Matisse. We looked at some of his collage work and produced some of our own.

We have been very busy in all other subjects too:

In Literacy, we have been writing character descriptions of 'anti-heroes' modelled on The Highwayman from the poem we are studying. We will use these as part of the poems we are going to be writing in the next two weeks.

In History/Cross Curricular Writing, we wrote biographies of the young 'Adolf Hitler' and investigated what could have caused him to become such an evil man.

In Maths, we have been learning how to use division to convert fractions to decimals.

In Computing, we are continuing to use the 'Sketch Up' architecture program and have been looking at how it can be used to design the interior of buildings.

In Geography, we looked at the location of well-known volcanoes throughout the world.

In PSHE, we continued with our topic of 'Loss' exploring the advice we could give those who may be suffering when someone close to them dies or moves away.

In R.E. we had a great discussion about the differences in beliefs between Muslims and Christians.

In Reading, we have been listening to (and talking about) 'Goodnight Mr Tom' by Michelle Magorian. This links to our World War 2 History topic.
