Week 4 - School Community

Lent Challenges – Be the change…School Community

Week 4 - 13th March 2023

This week our ‘School Community’ challenges have been:

  1. Clear up after someone else’s lunch.
  2. Help return lost property to the right owner.
  3. Leave the classroom as tidy and clean as you can.
  4. Ask how you can help out at school.
  5. Make posters about your school values to display.

Class Collective worship:

In our Class Collective Worship, we thought about how we could be a welcoming community to those that join us from around the world. We listened to the parable of the mustard seed and thought about what this parable can teach us about being a welcoming school community. We looked at this artwork and reflected about how our school community can be like the mustard tree in the picture.

Pupil Thoughts:

How can we be a welcoming community to those who join us from around the world?...

  • Matylda: I could let them play with us and sing them a song.
  • Oliver: I could say “Do you want to play with me?”
  • Olanna: when new people join our school and we look after them, it helps them to get to know what to do.
  • Elspeth: Showing them the way to places around the school.
  • Reuben – let them join in with what you’re doing and help explain how to join, teach them new games

How can our school community be a bit like this mustard tree?....

  • Zara: We will ask the MDS if she needs any help tidying up at lunchtime or on the playground.
  • Anna- we can make tiny love bigger and bigger, like the mustard seed.
  • Lucy: By sharing and being kind to everyone
  • Sami – we start small and grow big in size and learning while at school. More people joined the school and it got bigger
  • Keira – we can grow by teaching more people about God & Jesus
