In literacy - we started our new topic, nonsense poetry. The children have all really enjoyed performing the poems and writing their own nonsense poem about a tiger using features of language play.
In maths we are back to fractions. We looked at finding fractions of amounts, unit and non-unit fractions and fractions as numbers.
In other news:
The children wrote descriptive acrostic poems in cross curricular writing using their knowledge of South America. The football coach was back to work on communication and effective team work in our football lesson, invasions of Britain and Roman soldiers were annotated in history, we looked at the Incas tribe and wrote information pages on the tribe leaders, in science we continued to learn about healthy living and looked at what explorers need to eat whilst on expeditions and finally the children started creating their final mosaic by creating the border with square tiles.
It was the week of sign to sing and the children all performed really well. It was a pleasure to see and I am very proud of them all for being respectful and concentrating so hard to sign correctly. Well done everyone.
