Week 5

Literacy

In Literacy we have really enjoyed exploring alternative endings to 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch.'  The children explored different likely endings, drew images of the solution to the story and wrote their alternative ending as though they were the author.  They have done such a fantastic job and used some really strong descriptive vocabulary.  Well done Year 2!

Maths

In maths our focus has been division.  The children have worked with sharing a whole number and how to represent their answers.  We have also worked on putting whole amounta into groups which has helped support some of our maths vocabulary.

We have finished the week looking at odd and even numbers, how to divide these values and dividing by 2, 5 and 10.

Since last week, we have been working on our throwing and catching skills.  We have tried to communicate with the children the importance of showing the person who has the ball when we are ready.  We might shout their name, make sure we are looking at them and have our hands ready and in position.

Science

The children have been looking at plants this term.  Miss Hawkins has been very creative with them and they have looked after some potted plants as well as planting some bulbs and exploring through actions the process of a bulb or seeds growth.
