Week 5

This week was very busy, rehearsing for our Christmas play alongside ensuring we kept on working hard with all our lessons. During PE, we had our last dance lesson with the dance specialist, who has been helping us with our class dance - which hopefully you will enjoy seeing during the play next week!

These are some of the things we have covered this week in curriculum time:

  • In literacy, we began to explore poetry and will continue to do so over the coming weeks.
  • In maths, we started the week reminding ourselves how to collect data, finding out who was Y5's favourite X-Factor judge. This was followed by demonstrating an understanding of reading tables and timetables - interpreting data.
  • In Science, we continued to look at earth and the solar system. Unfortunately the weather wasn't on our side when we tried to record the shadows throughout the day. However, we made a good attempt to understand what happens to shadows, night and day, thanks to the internet and to those who brought in torches - so we could see what happens as the earth rotates.
  • In RE, we continued to explore the Christmas Story, which is undoubtedly helping us reflect and prepare for this festive season.

On Friday, the class were in full chorus, singing in the Eden Centre to Christmas Shoppers, supporting the good work of the Child Bereavement Trust. Thank you to all who supported the children.
