Week 6

Another busy week in Year One.  The children appear to be quite tired and well ready for the Easter break after adjusting to being back in school for the last four weeks.  They should feel very proud of what they have achieved this term in spite of all of the challenges we have navigated!

In literacy, Year One concluded their learning about explanation texts by creating their own poster about seasons. They worked in stages to complete the heading, diagram with labels, factual sentences and they even researched their own fun fact about seasons on the ipads.  Great job, Year One!

In maths, the children learnt about weighing mass using a balance scale and developed their use of using the correct vocabulary such as heavier and lighter to compare.  They also estmated and measured the weight of different objects using non standard units.

We were very lucky this week to have two special events.  Firstly, we had a fantastic experience on Tom Burts Hill for our Easter Service.  It felt very special to be able to celebrate this occasion in this socially distanced way outside. The children also had a special Easter treat organised by the Friends in the form of an egg hunt.  We felt very thankful for these opportunities.
