Week 6

Maths

In maths this week we have been learning about volume and capacity.  The children practised reading different measuring jugs with different amounts of liquid in.  It was a great opportunity for us to practise counting up in 2s, 5s and 10s.

Literacy

In Literacy this week the children have been reading a new book about Florence Nightingale.  We hid several clues around our learning environment and the children had to use their retrieval skills to answer if the questions were about Mary Seacole or Florence Nightingale.

Class debate

As the week progressed we read, researched and explored reasons why Florence Nightingale should and shouldn’t be a nurse.  This helped us to practise some verbally persuasive techniques.  At the end of the week we had a whole class debate before writing our own conclusions.

Easter service

It was time for our class competition.  Because we have had Wycombe Wonderers in when having our Games PE lesson, we decided to do some relays using some of the football skills we have been practising.
