Week 7

Literacy

In our final week before half term the children have been using their plans to write their own diary entry about a pirate.  We have explored writing about the 5W's (who, what, where, when and why) and also writing in the present tense.  Similarly to last time we have also been working on some of our editing skills before we write and publish our final drafts.

Maths

We have used this week as an opportunity to recap on some of the more challenging topics we have learnt this week.  For example arithmetic, finding a fraction of an amount, multiplication and finally money.

Class competition

This week the children had their class competition in PE.  Each house team competed with each other using the skills they have developed in cricket.  They had great fun and everyone was a support for others.  Congratulations Rider's and Biker's for winning this terms class competition!
Our focus this week in art has been looking at colour tints.  We recapped on primary and secondary colours but then began to talk about how if you gradually add more white to a colour then it becomes lighter and lighter.  The children had great fun getting stuck in.

Sharing assembly

The children performed fantastically in our sharing assembly this week.  They spoke about what they have learnt about in literacy, maths, geography and science and showed a glimpse of some of the superb work they have produced.

Well done everyone for working hard to fluently read or learn your lines off by heart!
