Week 7

Some moments from this week....

In maths we have been working on finding and comparing number bonds to 10 and pleasingly we had some light bulb moments this week! Comparing number bonds was a bit more of a challenge but we persevered and did not give up!

In literacy, we have been developing our ability to describe using our senses.  We read and performed some poems and are really starting to expand our vocabulary - try to encourage your child to describe things this half term! We hope you enjoy some of our autumn poems.

Science involved considering what we need to wear in Autumn.

In PE we had our final lesson with coach Joanne in and our class competition with football relays. Congratulations to the winning Bikers!

We found out about the brave and inspirational Ruby Bridges. After reading about her, Stephanie and Agnieszka volunteered to pretend to be her in some drama activities through which we explored the impact of unkind and kind words. They then talked about what they would say if she came to our school. I am so proud to teach such thoughtful, kind and caring children!

So here we are at the end of a fun filled, fruitful and fabulous first half term! I'm very proud of the way year one have settled back into school life so positively. I'm sure your child is exhausted and well ready for a break - I know I am! I look forward to seeing them again, rested, and full of beans I'm sure, in November.

Happy half term!
