Week 7

Over the last 2 weeks in Literacy we have been working on writing our own Myths based on the book Beowulf, which we have been reading in class. We worked on individual sections of the story in each Literacy lesson and have now completed our story writing! The children have worked very hard on their stories and it really shows!

In Maths we have been looking at measuring, converting and comparing measurements this week, using millimetres, centimetres, metres and kilometres. We started off the week by estimating the length of a metre and some of the playground objects and equipment. After that, in our groups, we took it in turns to accurately measure how far we could jump.

Our Science topic of ‘Living Things and their Habitats’ has come to an end this term, after doing an investigation in to the litter pollution on Tom Burt’s Hill and presenting our findings. We finished up, this week, with producing a poster on how plastic pollution is affecting the environment, and the things that we can do to reduce the amount of waste we are creating.

In Collective Worship we thought about the ways in which God has shown us his goodness and were able to identify many things in our lives, and the world, that show us how good God is.

A huge well done, and congratulations, to our achievement award recipients this month – it was really lovely to be able to hold our assembly virtually and see everyone in their classrooms receiving their awards.

A great big thank you from me to all the children and to all the adults at home for their support this half-term, the children have done so well to get back in to the school routine and have worked hard too.

I hope you all have a fantastic half-term break, see you in November!
