Week 6

Our learning behaviour this week has been confidence, and Eagles certainly showed this in our smashing class assembly on Friday afternoon! The children learnt their lines really well and worked hard to get into role as characters from Greek mythology. Thanks to all children and parents for their help learning lines and putting together costumes for the show.

In maths, we have been investigating properties of 3D shapes, including exploring shape nets and how 3D shapes are constructed. The children looked at whether 3D shapes nets are always constructed the same way and found that a net always has the same number of 2D shapes, but they can be linked by different edges.
In Literacy, the children considered two sides of an argument as part of the next chapter in our class book: Should Odysseus tell his crew members they were going to be attacked by a six-headed dragon? The children worked in groups to explore the two sides of the argument, then prepared a speech for a debate to argue one side. The children held their debates in class and then ended the week by writing balanced arguments to weigh up the two sides of the argument against each other, before concluding which argument was stronger.
The children have worked on their basketball passing skills and team games in PE and Games this week. All good preparation for our class competition next week!
