Phonics at HWCE
Phonics is widely regarded as the most effective way to enable children to become independent readers and writers when they begin their learning journey in school.
At High Wycombe C of E School we use Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised programme for teaching phonics. Teachers complement this programme with a range of multisensory activities which support the structure and sequences of carefully planned learning, because we know that children learn best when they are engaged, active and having fun!
Our robust monitoring and assessment processes enable us to identify each individual child's stage of their phonics journey so that we can support and challenge them to achieve their next steps as smoothly as possible.
Helping your child learn to read and write is a hugely rewarding experience and we would encourage all parents to step into the phonics world and take this wonderful journey with their child. We are here to support you all the way!
