On Monday 9 May The Archbishop of Canterbury came to visit us
The Archbishop only had 20 minutes scheduled in for our visit so we needed to make sure that everything ran like clockwork. In that time we managed to have photographs taken, share a wonderful collective worship around the theme ‘Love God, Love your Neighbour’ which involved dancing, acting and prayers. Everybody played their part in making the visit very special, Mrs Bowers, Mrs Picken were involved in the collective worship, children from Year 6 danced, the Worship Band played the Archbishop in and out and two children from Hazlemere C of E School read prayers. Prior to the visit the children had been asked to write down in words and pictures their thoughts, comments and prayers about this theme and we put them into a book which two of our reception children were able to present to the Archbishop. Each class has a copy of the book and one has been placed in the entrance if parents would like to read it. The Archbishop then addressed the children with great ease and involved a number of the children in this. The children were evidently very comfortable in his presence. He then led a whole school blessing and, I believe reluctantly left.
Below are our pictures of this very special day.
